Rise of the Wren

Book 1 of The Otherworld series

Rise of the Wren launches the epic tale of the Gallic rebellion of Vercingetorix, one of only two men to tactically defeat Caesar, through the eyes of a modern man.

In 1991, Captain Richard Bell—Special Forces commando, insurgency expert, and a convicted murderer and deserter—is the first human subject in a secret military time travel experiment. Only there’s a glitch: instead of being sent five minutes into the past, Richard is transported into the body of another man, smack in the middle of ancient Gaul on the eve of war with Julius Caesar…52 BC.

To survive in this world of sword and spear, ritual and prophesy, Richard becomes “Rix,” the disgraced prince of the Arverni, entangling himself in the Gallic fight for freedom against an oppressive tyrant. Seduced by the allure of rebellion, vengeance, and ultimately personal redemption, he loves, fights, and schemes for all the wrong reasons. Only by confronting the demons of his past can he alter his destiny, and in doing so, inspire a grassroots insurgency campaign, transforming himself into Vercingetorix, the champion of Gaul.
