Sisters of Wyrd

In a Britain torn apart by war between Britons and Angles, seventeen-year-old HYWELA and fourteen-year-old ARIANWEN belong to two peoples and none. Orphaned and alone, they have only their Anglish mother’s dying words to guide them: follow the road north. Find your wyrd.

The sisters know wyrd only as the spiderweb of fate woven from the threads of what has come before and what may come to pass, shaped by the choices they make. But they are not seers, and the signs of the world are deceptive, leading them astray. When Arianwen is captured by the Angles, she survives by disguising herself as a boy. Desperate to rescue her sister, Hywela maneuvers her way into the royal court of the Britons. In their struggle to avoid becoming pawns of two opposing thrones, both sisters learn to weave their threads of ambition, power, and love. As the crows of war darken the skies, Hywela and Arianwen must choose both who and what they will fight for, or risk never finding each other again.

With the historical roots of Signe Pike’s The Lost Queen and the dark grit of Adrienne Young’s Sky in the Deep, SISTERS OF WYRD explores grief and vengeance, gender and sexuality, and the eternal questions: who am I, where do I belong, and what can I become?
